Openly licenced Yes it's public domain information.
In an open and machine-readable format DBF, SHP, SHX PDF also.
Downloadable at once Yes You can download the data by theme in a zip file. Thats actually where you can get the shp file format.
Up-to-date Yes The lastyear it was updated was 2015.
Publicly available Yes There are numerous links organized by theme.
Available free of charge Yes
findable 3 I could find easily the pdf data, but the shapefile data is a little difficult.
findable_steps I typed IBGE geoscience and got the pages on google. when i didn't get IBGE page, i got from another public source. I also used the search icon availabe here: https://portaldemapas.ibge.gov.br/
licence_url https://www.ibge.gov.br/home/disseminacao/eventos/missao didn't find something as objective as a "terms and conditions" ou a real license, but I found at this link a list of fundamental principles for official statistics with some guidelines for publication and dissemination. It contains the idea of data provided for public domain.
Collected by government Yes
usability 3 Since there are a lot of pdf available, the info is out in the open with no effort needed.
collector_name IBGE - Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística The brazilian institute for geography and statistics is a federal government agency, associated with the brazilian ministry of planning, budget and management (Ministério do Planejamento, Orçamento e Gestão)and it is responsible for all geographic data available.
characteristics Scale of 1:250,000 (1 cm = 2.5km), Markings of national traffic routes, Markings of relief/heights, Markings of water stretches, National borders There is a brazilian physical map that that disposes information about water stretches and national bordes at the same time. i can also look it by theme. although, as i said before, its much easier to find a pdf file.
location https://portaldemapas.ibge.gov.br/portal.php#mapa1106 - search tool, https://downloads.ibge.gov.br/downloads_geociencias.htm - bulk download If i look up the name geoscience or maps and IBGE, which i know it is the official brasilian source of geographic data information, on google i'll find several links available to search for what i need.
I consider important to keep the geportal link as well, as it can be difficult for a person that's not familiar with the data to quickly find what they need.

We appreciate the contributions of Lu Pa and Augusto Herrmann for this submission.
