In fact, there is a "Public Consultation of Registered Companies" Search feature available on their website where one should be able to search entity information by using a company's name or RIF (Tax Information Registry) number. According to the submitter's comments, "data including company name, address, and unique identifier are available online in .HTML and .TXT format, but can not be downloaded. In some cases the registration of the companies is updated (what must be done annually or when there are changes in the articles of incorporation), but in other cases the information is outdated, incomplete. The information is in the public domain because there are no access barriers to obtain it, but the platform does not expose any declarations of public domain to inform the user. You have to scrape the information in order to get the data and use it." The submitter notes that the public consultation is one of the national government platforms that research journalists use the most to find information on state contracting companies. While the information is not available to download at once, the data are structured in a user-friendly way. However, I have been unable to verify this submission, as the website is not responding to any search queries. I have tried using different Venezuelan Company Names and RIF numbers (obtained through online searching) but every time, the search returns no results (note that it is not stated that no results were found, it simply does not produce any results).
