Collected by government Yes
usability 2 Not a water quality expert so hard to say...table i downloaded is clear and labeled appropriately. More documentation could be provided on the portals on how to assess water quality data and what indicators to look out for
collector_name US Geological Survey
characteristics Fecal coliform, Arsenic, Fluoride levels, Nitrates, Total Dissolved Solids, Available for entire country List of all parameters of USGS data: https://help.waterdata.usgs.gov/parameter_cd?group_cd=% confirms the following characteristics are theoretically present. But county level information provides varying degrees of information. Not all states and counties are represented. The link to a map of all the sites where water data is collected gives a 404 error https://help.waterdata.usgs.gov/output-formats#nwis_mapper. National results coverage of all water quality data confirms data from all 50 states (Puerto Rico and Guam not confirmed) https://www.waterqualitydata.us/coverage/
location https://waterdata.usgs.gov/ - This site is the public web interface to the USGS National Water Information System, a system that is based on several development efforts that were established in our water science centers. This system became an operational production system in 2001., https://www.waterqualitydata.us/ - The Water Quality Portal (WQP) is a cooperative service sponsored by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the National Water Quality Monitoring Council (NWQMC). It serves data collected by over 400 state, federal, tribal, and local agencies.
https://www.waterqualitydata.us/ site is much more user friendly than https://waterdata.usgs.gov/ - not sure when this new portal was created? valuable addition and good to see data sharing across USGS, US EPA and USDA on water quality

Submission is acceptable.
