findable_steps | I knew the name of the agency by heart. I browsed through the website to find forecast data. The link about brought me to the required data. | |

The submission was changed because all required data are available online. 2-day forecasts are published online in text form. Extensive effort would be required to retrieve the core information from the text (which is available as HTML). Especially wind speed and direction are written in "unstructured", human-readable text. Other data is available for a range of research services. There is a service called "Weste XL" allowing users to download data of weather observations (see: https://www.dwd.de/DE/leistungen/weste/westexl/weste_xl.html?nn=342632). This service is available as registered user, provides openly licensed data for temperature, precipitation, wind, and other parameters, available in xml. In the future data more data shall be opened, as this article indicates (https://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Amtliche-Wetterdaten-sollen-kostenfrei-nutzbar-werden-3601117.html). Thank you, Thomas Tursics, for contributing to the Global Open Data Index.
