Data should include maps of lands with parcel layer that displays boundaries in addition to a land registry with information on registered parcels of land. The Index focuses on assessing open land tenure data (describing the rules and processes of land property). Responsible use may enable tenure security and increase the transparency of land transactions. The assessment criteria were developed in collaboration with Cadasta Foundation. For more information on land ownership datasets and where they're located, check out Cadasta Foundation's Data Overview.
|In an open and machine-readable format|
|Collected by government||Yes|
|collector_name||Direção-Geral do Território|
|Controlled access||No||As said in the last year) Existing data is based on a mid-20th century survey; it has been scanned and it's available to see it in the browser on DG Território but the PDF it's not downloadable (and last year it was apparently) and it's still useless. Efforts to make a digital survey are still ongoing but far from complete.|
According to the Direção-Geral do Território is the national official organization with a formal mandate: "Responsible for the National Geodetic Network and Cadastre. The organization is a National reference on Catrography, and the official co-ordinator for the National System of Geographical Information, the Portuguese Spatial Data Infrastructure. It is also responsible for pursuing public policies for territorial planning and urbanism."
We acknowledge and thank Joana Ventura for the contribution.
